Wonders of Beauty: Lips

I know many people may be new to Inglot products and haven't yet been able to test them out. Until IMATS 2013, I was definitely a stranger to their lipstick range but decided to head home with three. Since then, I've given this particular shade some love and I'm actually impressed with it. For those of you who are curious and are not sure whether or not to buy their lipsticks, I thought I'd update you with a review on the shade 405.

Shade:

This lipstick for me personally falls into the nude category. It is not a pinky nude, much more like the colour of my lips, just a very natural/bare lip shade which a "nude" lipstick should actually be. The shade can be described as a deep dusty rose but slightly leans towards a shade of brown in the casing. Due to it's deep tone, I believe it can be passed off as a nude lipstick for Asian/Black skin tones but as everyone's "nude" is different, this may vary.

Scent:

I can't quite pin point the scent of this lipstick. It has a strong fruity smell but I just cannot figure out which fruit. If you do not like scented cosmetics, you may not particularly like Inglot lipsticks.

Finish/Texture:

405 is a part of the Inglot matte lipsticks range. Although it has a matte finish, I must say this is probably one of the most comfortable matte lipsticks I've worn. The first time I wore this lipstick was without any lip balm/primer and I still didn't find it drying like I do most matte lipsticks from other brands. This shade also just glides on so smoothly and evenly and does not settle into my fine lines.

Lasting Power:

This lipstick personally lasted a long time on me. Knowing that I was going to be writing a review on it, I had noted on one day that it lasted from 6pm - 3am, fading ever so slightly. This was with me eating and drinking as well. I think it's one of those lipsticks that pretty much stay on until they're wiped off.

Size and Packaging:

The lipstick is housed in a black plastic casing. Inglots' lipstick packaging is very sleek and simple. The shade does not have a name but is labelled and identified at the bottom as '405'.

In terms of size, in comparison to a MAC lipstick, you get slightly more product as the bullet of the Inglot lipstick is thicker.

Price:

As mentioned in my Inglot Edition IMATS haul, this lipstick retails at £10. Yes it's slightly more than drugstore brands but if you're looking for quality as well then I don't think the price is too bad!

Availability:

I'm not too sure about worldwide, but if you live in the UK, this lipstick can be purchased from the Inglot website alternatively you can find it at their shop in Westfield, White City or The Grafton, Cambridge.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas!

As promised, I have swatched the Wet n Wild Mega Last Lipsticks that I bought recently so that you can hopefully see the colours better and also maybe to help someone out there who is having difficulties picking shades to buy. As you should already know, I only purchased four lipsticks to start off with because I didn't want to buy loads and then find that I don't like the formula. Now that I've had them for a while, I really do like these lippies and I'm happy to have had Wet n Wild lipsticks recommended to me :)

901B Think Pink can be described as a peach toned pink. Out of the four, this is the shade that I haven't really played with. It's quite light and I'd suggest darker skin women to use this lipstick with a lip liner. Light and medium tone ladies should be able to pull it off fine though.

Everyone's current favourite Wet n Wild lipstick - 908C Sugar Plum Fairy. As you can see this is a plum/berry shade and so far my most worn lipstick of the month! I'm really loving this shade at the moment and I always pair it with my NYX 808 Deep Purple lip liner. Every skin tone can pull off this shade with ease!

I've only ever worn 965 Cherry Picking once which was at home on Christmas day. It's sort of like a pinky red. It's a very feminine and bold shade in my opinion. I haven't really given it much of a chance as I'm always wearing Sugar Plum Fairy lol.

Over the past 2/3 days, I've been rocking this shade and also paired it with my NYX 808 Deep Purple lip liner. As the lip liner is closer to Sugar Plum Fairy, when worn with 907C Mauve Outta Here, it gives it a sort of ombre-ish look which I like.

The top set of swatches are without flash and the bottom set was taken with flash. I took both so that I could show you the true colours of these shades and hopefully give you an idea of the finish in the best way possible.

I need your help ladies! One thing I do struggle with is pairing lip liners with my lipsticks as I don't have enough. Could you kindly suggest lip liners to be used with these lipsticks as I do always love to define my lip shape. Any brands that are easy to get hold of will do. I mainly own NYX ones though.

Review: Becca Beach Tint - Strawberry..♥

For those of you who are not so familiar or have never heard of BECCA, it is a makeup brand of Australian origin (though it is sold internationally) who are known for their 'Skin Perfecting Makeup System' which is designed to correct, prepare and enhance any complexion. They boast a range of 34 concealer shades and 30 foundation colours!

As the title suggests, I'm going to be reviewing one of their best selling products - "BECCA Beach Tint".

The BECCA Beach Tint is a stain that can be used on both your lips and cheeks regardless of your skin type. It can either be worn alone or layered underneath your lip balm, lip gloss or if worn on your cheeks then under your blush/bronzer for a more intense colour.

I received the tint in the shade "Strawberry" which is a yellow-based red but there are a range of shades available for you to choose from so you're bound to find one which you feel may suit your skin tone.

I don't usually go for cheek stains as I've always stuck to powder blushes so I was a bit skeptical about using this product on my cheeks. I've found that when I use other forms of blushes besides powders, they tend to make my foundation/powder blotchy so I just do not bother with them.

The first time I tried out this stain on my cheeks, I wore it over my foundation then layered my setting powder on top. This gave my cheeks a natural flush of colour and wasn't so obvious like a powder blush can tend to be. I really think it's good for those who like natural looking makeup or for those who are going for the "no makeup" makeup look.

The second time it was used, I wore it over my foundation and powder to see if it'll make my powder look blotchy like most liquid/cream products that are used on my cheeks do. Surprisingly it didn't and I was able to layer it up as normal.

Packaging

It comes in a squeezy tube and the product comes out of the nozzle which I think is ideal. The amount that comes out depends on the pressure that is applied when squeezing so you can control the amount that is dispensed.

The packaging is quite sleek with the main body being black and the cap being silver.

Consistency
Though it is in a squeezy tube, this product has been described as a cream stain. It has a very light consistency and is not too thick. Definitely very easy to blend.

Longevity
When used as a lip stain, it lasted around 10 hours though before I removed it the colour had lost its intensity. I also noticed that it slightly faded as I ate and drank throughout the day.

Scent/Shades

It is available in 6 shades online:

Strawberry - Warm Orange Red

Peach - Warm Orange Pink

Raspberry - Deep Berry Pink

Grapefruit - Pale Coral Pink

Fig - Tea Rose Pink

Guava - Bright Coral Pink

And in store you can purchase Watermelon which is a bright pink.
Each shade is scented like its name so you may want to keep that in mind when you're choosing your shade.

Size
When the box arrived, I was very shocked to see the size of the product. For some reason, I was expecting the tube to be much larger for £20. You get 7ml/0.24fl.oz of product but after trying out the tint I realised that you really do not need a lot and a little goes a long way. I suppose maybe this justifies the reason for the tiny tube?

I guess a pro for it being small is that it easily fits into your makeup bag and is great for travelling.

Overall Thoughts
Overall I think this is a good product to use especially if you're one to like matchy makeup as it can be used on both your lips and cheeks so you never have to worry about finding a blush to match what's on your lips. It is a versatile product that can be used in many ways, so though it's pricey it saves you buying a separate blush and lip colour. You can wear it alone or under your blush for added intensity, as a lip stain, under clear lip gloss, etc.

I found that the stain is also buildable so you can have a light wash of colour or go for a full blown red on your lips.

The product itself is non-drying and I didn't feel it dried out my lips at all. I would say that you may want to exfoliate your lips before applying as it does tend to cling onto any dry bits. Also if you have fine lines on your lips like I do, just be aware that after a few hours it does settle into the lines which accentuates them a bit more.

Like I said before, all the Beach Tints are scented so if you do not like scented products, you will not like this. I love fruity smells and I think this smells very nice but I know we are all different. My "Strawberry" one has quite a strong scent but it doesn't linger and after a while I can't even smell it anymore.

Unfortunately when I hadn't touched the tint for a while, when I returned to it, I realised that the product had become a bit runny and was separating. I had to shake it well for it to return to its consistency so I think maybe the company should have put "Shake well before use" or something along those lines on the packaging.

I have a habit of using lip balms or conditioners on my lips at all times during the day. Honestly, I believe it's an addiction. No matter how many balms, butters, conditioners or moisturisers I've tried, I'm always still willing to try new ones. Dry or chapped lips are avoided when possible as I'm always carrying around some sort of lip product to prevent this. Next in line I guess was this lip butter by Korres which is described as being a buttery tinted lip balm. If you're familiar with the MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner then you'll have an idea of what type of product this is. It's great for those who want to keep their lips hydrated and moisturised but with an added pop of colour.

Finish

As described above, this tinted lip butter has a shiny finish to it, though not like a lip gloss but very similar to finishes of most balms/conditioners.

Shades/Scents

There are 7 available shades/scents to choose from so you're bound to find a colour that suits you!

I wasn't too fussed about my choice so I opted for the lip butter in 'Pomegranate'. I would describe 'Pomegranate' to be a coral shade and it does smell very nice and fruity in my opinion. The smell is not overbearing and once applied to your lips, you really do not even smell it anymore.

Packaging

As I have quite long nails, I find the packaging of this product very annoying because my fingers cannot fit in the tub so I need a lip brush/applicator in order to apply it!

Besides the small tub, the packaging is quite sleek and fresh. Each shade has the corresponding lid colour and a white tub.

Size

You get 6g/0.21 Oz worth of product in the pot.

Price and Availability

This product is actually quite difficult to find. It is sold on the Korres website but in euros. You may have to run a google search in order to find a supplier in your country. I purchased mine from ASOS for £5.40 with my 10% student discount but it is originally £6.00.

Overall Thoughts

I think this lip butter is a good affordable lip balm to purchase. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative to MAC Tinted Lip Conditioners then this will be good for you especially because the colour range is wider. This lip butter does its job of keeping your lips moisturised and hydrated without any stickiness.

For those who do not like scented products at all, then this may not be for you. Though it is not overpowering, if your sensitive to scents, it may be strong for some.

As I do not own any of the other shades, I cannot guarantee their pigment. I can say that 'Pomegranate' is quite pigmented for the lip balm that it is but I believe the colour can be built depending on how much you apply. You can either go for just a sheer tint or if you keep layering, eventually you will achieve the colour in the pot.

Like I said before, the only downfall of this product for me is the packaging as I do not have time to keep applying it with a lip brush or applicator so I may have to think about this before purchasing another pot!
