It's that time of the year again where vampy shades make their return into everyone's lives - whether it be lipsticks or nail polishes. I feel like I've gone from one extreme to another with having fresh, natural shades to a very deep, almost black shade of polish. I really wasn't planning for a shade this deep; I was after more of a wine shade but I had a limited selection of autumnal shades to choose from at the time. This colour is very similar to one I've posted about before (click here to see) and in fact, I can't really spot the difference between them. Can you? Anyway, this one's called Bella's Vampire by Nail Harmony from their Gelish range - a well suited name for this time of year!

I've really been into natural nail polishes this season - the 'barely there' look. There's just something so fresh and Spring/Summer-like about them. As you can imagine, they're so versatile and low maintenance. If you're not someone that's good with upkeep, then a shade like this can be something to consider as it doesn't tend to be as obvious when you need a new coating.

Although I haven't posted my nails prior to the one pictured, continuing with my 'barely there' nail trend this summer, this week I decided to go for a shade called Amore Amore by XO Gellac. I haven't used this brand before but like Gelish (which I love and have spoken about previously), this is a gel polish cured using UV/LED light and is supposed to last at least two weeks without chipping. Gelish lives up to these claims and I usually get more than three weeks wear out of their polish without a chip in sight but I just have to wait and see how this brand holds up.

I remember the first time I got acrylic nails done. They were for my year 11 school prom. Since then (aged 16), I got into the habit of getting them done all the time. Six years on, I'm left with damaged, paper thin nails. Enough was enough. I decided that it's time I give my natural nails a chance to grow healthily.

My nails are so thin so I wasn't sure of what my options were to maintain strength and growth. I just knew that I didn't want any form of nail extensions. Over the past couple of years, I've been hearing a lot about Shellac, Gelish, etc. but I never really took time out to know what the difference was between them.

After a quick Google search, I opted for Gelish as it's said to last longer and doesn't cause any damage to your natural nails allowing them to grow stronger. For those who don't know, Gelish is a gel nail polish which is cured with UV or LED light and lasts without chipping for about three weeks. It's especially good for those who don't have time to keep changing their polish colour or for those like me who have damaged nails. I don't know if you can tell but my middle nail was so damaged that I had to get it extended and gel put over it in order to match the length of the rest of my nails. That's why it may look bulky compared to the others.

As we're now in Autumn, I wanted something for the season so I decided to go for a deep purple in the Gelish range called 'Diva' which I feel complements my skin tone and also looks good against camel and gold tones (which I tend to wear often). I'll probably stick to dark tones for a while but I'll try to keep you updated with my polish changes.

Has anyone tried Gelish or planning to? If so, what are your thoughts on it?

Hey beauts!

I'm currently in Morocco so I'm having to blog from my phone. I've never done this before so fingers crossed it comes out okay.

I wanted to show you my holiday nails. I was after something bright and summery. Initially, I was going to use my own nail polish Essie Tart Deco rather than the polishes in the nail salon but when I saw this beautiful shade displayed on the wall, I couldn't resist.

As usual, I opted for the stiletto shape. I've gotten really used to my nails being this shape and I love it though it is becoming very common now!

The polish is by Misa and the shade is called "Green with Envy". It's a very bright and bold colour.

It's quite difficult to describe this shade. Lime green maybe? In some lights it comes off a bit like a highlighter yellow.

It took 3 coats to get to my desired opaqueness.

I shouldn't really call this a NOTD as I've had this nail colour on for like a week now but anyway! Remember at IMATS I purchased a few nail polishes? Well, this is one of the polishes I purchased from the crazy Illamasqua stand. It's called Glory and I would describe it as a metallic silver. I love the shade as it's a silver without glitter as I'm not really a fan of glittery things.

I achieved this finish with two coats but one coat did the job.

What do you think of the nail colour?

Hey beauties

Gosh it has been a week. Sorry!

Been a while since I've done a NOTD post so I just thought I'd quickly show you what I am currently wearing on my nails(please excuse the fact that yes I do need infills!).

For a change, my nails are not in the usual squared shape. I thought I'd try something new so I got them filed pointy. Now when I first got these done, they were more pointy but over time they've become more rounded. I wasn't too sure whether I was going to like my new shape but I wanted to be daring so here they are!

I know they're not everyone's taste but I quite like them so I'm happy :)

As you can obviously tell from the title, today's polish is by Essie and it's called Bahama Mama. I would describe this colour as a deep plum. I don't usually buy nail polishes this colour but I thought it'll be great for the season.

Any thoughts?

In today's NOTD post, I'm using Barefoot in Barcelona by OPI.

It's quite hard to describe this shade as it can appear brown at times but I would describe it as a pinkish nude. I think it complements my skin tone and is just a nice everyday nail polish colour.

The opaque finish was achieved with just two coats and as you can see there are no streaks and it looks okay.

What does everyone think of this colour?

Hey beauts! I was starting to get bored of the Essie - Van D'go and I wanted something more subtle and neutral as I was tired of my bright finger nails. I decided I wanted to paint my nails using Models Own - Nyla Nude. I've had it at home for a while now but I've never actually picked it up to use so I just thought I'd give it a go.

I would say it was more of a peachy nude than what it appears to be in the pictures above. They're not really doing the polish any justice and looks much nicer in person.

This nail polish is a bit on the runny side therefore if you're not careful, it may apply messily. It took two coats to get an opaque finish.

Okay so I know it hasn't been too summery in England and it's a bit late in the season to have my nails painted this colour but I just love this nail polish and I still wanted that summery feeling (even if it wants to rain everyday =/ ). Today, I decided to get my nails painted in the colour 'Van D'go' by Essie.

Van D'go looks like a pastel pink in the bottle but once on your nails, it's a brighter, pinky-peachy colour.

The first coat of this polish was quite streaky but once the second coat was applied it looked fine. In the pictures above, I have two coatings.

This is a beautiful colour for summer. Just because the sun doesn't shine everyday doesn't mean colours like this can't be used!
