Up until the past two months or so, MAC Honeylove was the lipstick I'd been reaching for the most over the past year. It's probably the only MAC lipstick I own that I'm close to finishing. In fact, I'm going to give it the 'My MAC Lipstick of the Year 2014' title as I've shown it so much love.
Honeylove is a nice everyday nude tone. It's a favourite amongst my "nude" lipsticks. MAC has described it as "light beige toned with rose" which sounds just about right. I tend to go for slightly lighter nudes like this shade as sometimes I feel they look better on me. Due to it's tone, if you're of darker skin like me, I would highly recommend wearing a lip liner with it as it is too light to be worn alone. Personally, I begin by lining my lips with MAC Stripdown lip liner, I then apply the lipstick and go over the outline of my lips again with MAC Cork. I can just about get away with pairing it with 'Stripdown' alone but I prefer more definition.
It is part of MAC's matte lipstick collection so it does tend to be long wearing. After some hours it does emphasize my fine lines and I find it to be one of the most drying lipsticks that I own when worn for a long period of time so be sure to moisturise well before application.

Well these aren't exactly new to my collection as you'll know if you've been following my blog for some time. They're in fact repurchases of my staple beauty products. I love Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products! I used to use her 'Brow Wiz' to fill in my eyebrows but I switched to the Dipbrow Pomade in February and have enjoyed it ever since. The initial Dipbrow Pomade that I bought early on in the year hasn't actually run out yet and in fact, I still have quite a lot left but there's no harm in having a back up right?
On the other hand, I have been scraping the bottom of my Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer pot for some time now. I really did take a risk by purchasing a new pot so last minute. I haven't highlighted with any other concealer for a long time so even with the high price point, repurchasing was a must. I do believe this product is worth the price though as my last purchase of it was in August 2013 so it lasted well over a year! If you're not a daily makeup user like me, I'm pretty sure it will last you forever.
Although these products are quite pricey, I really don't mind splurging on them as a little goes a long way with both products. I obviously have no regrets buying them as I have decided to repurchase and if you can afford to do so, they are nice products to try out.
I was a little confused when the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer came in this gold packaging as last time I ordered, the box was dark red/wine and I haven't got wind that they've changed their packaging. In saying that, I don't have any doubts with where I purchased it from as it's a very reputable website. I was just a bit baffled but I do like the new look.

I happened to pass through London last week so I thought I'd take advantage and visit the KIKO store in Westfield. You know how I feel about their £25 minimum order for online purchases and with their 30% discount that meant that I'd have to buy quite a few products just to reach the minimum order. Anyway my main mission was to buy a backup of the Mat Base Corrector Primer that I've been using for the past few months. If you haven't done so already, read my review of this product HERE. I also picked up their Lip Base Primer. I bought this thinking it was just a regular lip primer but clearly I didn't do any research into this product nor did I test it out in the store. I was very shocked at the colour and texture when I finally opened it. It's in fact a neutralising lip base (similar to MAC Lip Erase) which erases your natural lip colour allowing you to reshape your lips, etc. Out of curiosity I purchased their Lip Volume. My sister said I was very silly for buying this item lol but I believe my lips could do with a little plumping sometimes. This product is a lip balm that is supposed to smooth and plump your lips which I think my top lip could make use of as my fine lines often become visible.

Yes I'm always rocking a full face but I'm all about simplicity when it comes to makeup looks regardless of the season. Initially I was going to base my Autumn look post on a dark vamp lip look but to be honest I realised that I just don't feel that comfortable in it.
Anyway I decided that I wanted to create a glowy look that was still appropriate for the season. Although the weather may be on the dull side, there's no reason why our skin should be! Creating a radiant look helps brighten your skin and maybe even help lift your mood in the colder months. To achieve the look I was going for, I decided to go for a flawless base and a deep-ish bold lip. The lip colour is sort of a wine shade and I think it's perfect for those who don't like wearing really deep tones. My intention was to make my lips the main focus as we all know deep reds, rose tones and purples are associated with this season. To add more of an Autumn feel to the look, I used a sepia toned eyeshadow. For some reason, the colour reminds me of fallen leaves (OK maybe I took it too far lol).

I know that seeing a lipstick on someone can be a lot more helpful than a swatch. It also gives you an idea of how it may pull off on your skin tone if you're around the same shade. I usually prefer taking pictures of swatches as I'm not always keen on photographing myself but I had some spare time on my hands (well really I should have been studying) so I thought I'd show you how my most recent MAC lipstick purchase Velvet Teddy looked on me. If you haven't already seen my post when I first got this lipstick then click HERE.
MAC Velvet Teddy does have a matte finish although it doesn't appear so in my pictures because my lips were well moisturised but later in the day the matte finish was more evident. Weirdly this is the most comfortable MAC matte lipstick I've worn. Is it just this lipstick in particular or have they possibly altered their formula? I have actually worn this lipstick over consecutive days and my lips are not showing signs of suffering yet. That's a first lol.
In case you're wondering, I'm wearing it with MAC 'Stripdown' and 'Cork' lip liners. 'Stripdown' was used before the lipstick application and it is lighter than Velvet Teddy so I do still plan on purchasing a lip liner to go with it. 'Cork' was just used for more definition after the lipstick was applied.

I mentioned in my recent post titled 'My MAC Lipsticks' that the next MAC lippy to be added to my collection will be Velvet Teddy. You know me, once I've set my eyes on a product, I have to have it. Well, I waited until I was back in Kent to get my hands on this lipstick as I needed to actually get it from a MAC store using the Back2MAC scheme (give back 6 empty containers and get a free lipstick in return) but MAC never seems to have anything in stock these days! After about 3 weeks or so, I finally got my hands on it. To be fair, I blame Kylie Jenner. Although there are many variations for her new look (including Soar lip liner), a lot of people are pairing this lipstick with Whirl lip liner hoping to achieve the voluptuous lips she has been seen with of recent.
MAC has described Velvet Teddy as a "deep-tone beige" but to me it's more of a dusty rose pink. It's often a nice nude for women of colour because of its deep tone.
Velvet Teddy is in their permanent range and has a matte finish which I love but I know I can't wear it on consecutive days because of my sensitive lips.
I do intend on buying a lip liner to pair with this. I really need to go lip liner shopping in general but I am contemplating jumping on the bandwagon and going for the Whirl combo but we'll see!

I am one of those people who believe in primers, although I don't always use one. The ones I've used so far may not work as well as this KIKO primer but I am open to giving other products a try, especially if there is a buzz within the beauty community about one in particular. Over the past few months, I've seen nothing but positivity around this product and I wasn't actually expecting it to be as good as people made it out to be (you can't always fall for the hype). I wouldn't say that the range of primers I have dabbled in is extensive but this one is by far the best I've used to date!
Like I said in one of my previous posts, I got fed up of ordering a 3-pack of the primer I used to use. Besides, I wanted to try something new anyway so I decided to go for the KIKO Mat Base Corrector Primer. So far, this primer is living up to the hype! It keeps my face matte for the whole duration of my makeup wear (let's say 8 hrs +). A couple of weeks back, I had used this primer, had my makeup on for 12 hrs, fallen asleep within that time, woke up and my makeup still looked fresh. No shine whatsoever in sight. I didn't even want to take it off.
As I don't live in London, getting to a KIKO store was effort for me and there was a minimum order for purchasing on their site which I was skeptical about as I had never tried their products. My friend was on a hunt for a new primer and I had recommended she'd give this one a try based on what I'd heard so I'd asked her to get me a tube as well since she works in Westfield (there's a KIKO store there). Obviously as she'd bought it, she had a chance to put it to the test before I did and her advice to me was not to use too much because you will struggle with blending.
I definitely would not recommend this primer to those with dry skin as it is suited to those with combination/oily skin and combats shine. When it is applied to the skin, it makes your face very matte and can tend to make your skin feel tight so it will only accentuate your dryness and possibly feel uncomfortable for those with a drier skin type. If you do have dry skin and you're after a primer by KIKO, you could try their 'Perfect Base Corrector' which focuses on creating a smooth base. I haven't tried this primer so I'm not able to tell you how well it works in achieving this.
Just some advice to those looking to purchase this primer:
1.
During your first application, you may be tempted to apply a lot of product maybe because of other primers you've used which have allowed you to do so with no problems. If you apply too much, you will have the hardest time blending your makeup. If you're already someone who isn't great at blending, be careful!
2.
As this product sets quickly, if you do not blend this product onto your skin properly and on time, it will dry in that spot and the area that hasn't been blended will be visible when you apply your powder. It may look slightly patchy.
3.
Be sure to pat it into your skin as it may start to flake if rubbed in, especially if you've applied too much product.
